SWAMP FEST OPENING CEREMONIES: 

With the Swamp Fest marching band, Mooky & more! 

Join us for the third-annual, Swamp Fest Opening Ceremonies. To officially start Swamp Fest events, the elusive Swamp Portal must be opened, and the Toxic Algae Blob must be coaxed out from the realm of the slimy and into... the less than slimy. A cast of strange and beautiful creatures will attempt to lure the swamp monster out from its place of scummy slumber through dance, music and possibly bribery. Could you be one of them? Come to the Willow Island Boat Launch in your swampiest attire and join the fun!

Be hypnotized by the Swamp Dance Troupe as they concoct a slimy spell to awaken TAB and pass the swampy torch. Join the movement magic and kick off the annual Swamp Fest Parade with us! 

Dance performance at 7:45 followed by a short walking parade through Wascana Park. All are welcome to join and are encouraged to bring costumes, lights & musical instruments!

This creature was first discovered 15 000 kilometers under the sea in 2019. Emerging from the depths of the swamplands, this swampy creature has been spotted near O'Hanlon's Irish Pub, The Lazy Owl, and Shannon's Pub. Appearing as a group of 6 swampy creatures, they’ll lure you to the abyss with their enchanting rhythms and bewitching melodies.​

Rapper, singer, Internet sensation DijahSB is a Black non-binary artist rapping their way through hope, heartbreak, and breakthroughs. Their fascination with the unguarded creative processes of their influences Kid Cudi and Lupe Fiasco birthed a desire to express themselves freely and unapologetically unique.

Eric Hill is a local filmmaker and digital media creator. If you've attended Swamp Fest before, you've likely seen some of his projections on the walls and stages of the evening venues. He is looking forward to bringing swampy visuals to The Cure on Friday night of the fest.

MeenahMo, born Aminat Momodu, is an R&B and Pop singer/songwriter from Lagos, Nigeria. She began her music journey in December 2018 as a songwriter and released her debut single Love on Drugs in 2020, followed by two EPs — TOXIC (2024) and CLEAN (2025). Inspired by her music-loving mum and artists like Erykah Badu, Sade, and Amy Winehouse, MeenahMo sees herself as a songwriter first, balancing both her passions in music and engineering.​

Midnight Channel

Midnight Channel (Lethbridge, AB) fuses 1960s cosmic free jazz with post-bop, Japanese fusion, and neo-soul grooves, creating a sound that’s both grounded and exploratory. Their debut Gemini Sunrise hit #10 on the National Earshot! Jazz Charts, and with a new release dropping this September, their Swamp Fest set will unveil fresh material for the first time. Expect high-energy improvisation, deep feeling, and joyful chaos.

Blue Fantasy

Blue Fantasy began as a recording project (and an excuse to get together to hang out) for Saskatoon musicians Shelby Gaudet (Radiation Flowers, Lucy’s Seduction) & Christopher Laramee (Runway, Wasted Cathedral & Regina musician Christopher Sleightholm (Snake River). After recording off and on for a few years they completed their debut album in 2024, which is a homespun jangly garage folk kaleidoscope daydream. To play the songs live they added drummer Charles Lemire, with the full lineup they can take the songs to new places. In 2025 they released a split LP with Chicago legends Plastic Crimewave Syndicate.

A confrontational, camp and seductive dramaturge. Toronto’s industrial performance art outfit Slash Need have earned a reputation for putting on high-energy theatrical live performances. The group craft songs that slither, satirize, and scream. Conjuring the essence of cherry red lipstick smudged on the rim of a spilled energy drink, Slash Need’s distinct style of propulsive techno and metallic ebm serves as the backdrop to an unpredictable, ever-changing, and communal performance piece.
